Live Arico is a dog refuge in Tenerife South and currently has 390 dogs in their care at the moment. Live Arico relies purley on public funding to pay all their bills and to feed the dogs. The situation is getting worse out there as there are no animal welfare laws like we have in England. Dogs get thrown out of the cars on the motorway, tied up in mid day heat with no shade or water and left to die, they are driven up the mountains and left there to die. There are so many heart breaking stories I could tell you.

I work with Live Arico from the UK as I do a foster program to get dogs from Live Arico to the Uk. I then keep the dogs with me in my home until I can find them their forever home. Currently we have been doing this for a year and have successfully rehomed 2 dogs. The reason for this is because the cost to put a dog on a flight from Tenerife to the uk is £570 per dog. I have to do fundraising events to raise the money which is very hard. It takes about 6 months to raise the money plus all the jabs, passport and crate they need to be able to fly. It is alot of hard work but when you see the results it makes it worth while.

Live Arico have a facebook page that has pictures and lots more information about them and also a website  www.livearico.org

Currently I have a dog waiting to come to me in January and I am currently trying to get donations towards her flight her name is Cindy.

Can you help by making a donation? Anything from £5 could help!! Email me on emma-rhodes@live.co.uk
